Benihana
As Japanese fare such as sushi, wasabi and miso become more ubiquitous in the United States, it’s not surprising that sake, Japan’s traditional rice wine, is also gaining a following among Americans. Benihana couldn’t pass up the opportunity to revamp its sake offerings, too. The Miami-based teppanyaki chain reinvented its sake menu with a slew of premium sakes from Japan.
Benihana Sake
This incredible American success story really had its roots in Japan right after the war. At that time, Yunosuke Aoki, a samurai descendant and a popular Japanese entertainer together with his wife Katsu opened a small coffee shop in Tokyo. A red safflower, found in the neighborhood streets gave the Aoki’s the inspiration for the restaurant’s name - Benihana - which in Japanese means “red flower.”
In English, saké is translated as “rice wine”, however like beer it is made from grain and is brewed. Click Here! to buy it.
